JULY RELEASES 2022-2023: Ray Dio is a songwriter and promoter from Corpus Christi Texas. Speaking live from The Hole in the Wall, Ray shares some of his creative processes involved in writing his songs. Ray also discusses his ongoing work as a music promoter in Shanghai and more recently beyond. His new album is due out this year and this podcast features three acoustic tracks.

JUNE RELEASES 2022- 2023: Nyameko Ishmael Bottoman is a writer currently based in China. As the editor of Ningbo Focus Magazine, he works to ensure that everyone within the Zhejiang community has their story told. Nyameko's published works include stories that are written for children as well as a book publication about South African folklore. Nyameko now specialises in preserving the Xhosa stories that were passed on to him by his grandma. You will hear some of his original fables and stories in this podcast.
MAY RELEASES 2022-2023: Salad’s lead singer Marijne Van der Vlugt spins back to some of the earlier band recordings, which were produced at the Beat Factory studio by Graeme Holdaway. This led to a tour with Blur in the early 90s and a deal with Island Records. Now based in Brighton, a 2016 revival has led to a cacophony of gigs, multiple new releases and independent videography.
APRIL PODCASTS 2022-2023: Tudor Ciocanel is a luthier and teacher from Romania. Since moving to China eight years ago, he teaches local students and works from his home studio in his spare time. Tudor taught himself to make guitars and sells a range of acoustic, electric and archtops. In this podcast he shares his reflection about making guitars and what it has been like to live in China.
MARCH PODCASTS 2022-2023: Saskia Tomkins, a violinist and nyckelharpista from the UK who currently lives in Canada. Recently inducted into the Hall of Fame, Saskia was the Artist in Residency for a Mixed Museum Project. She tours extensively with her bands, that includes Medusa, 2'ish, as well as with her husband Steáfán Hannigan and son Oisín Hannigan. Saskia has worked with artists such as Sultans of Spring, Jimmy Bowskill, The Chieftains, Kim Doolittle, Tim Edey, Tim Garland, “Jabbour,” and Sonja Kristina.
MARCH PODCASTS 2022-2023: John Day is a bass player and an arranger from the UK. He has gigged at jazz festivals, musicals and gigs. He currently plays a five string Warwick bass and his arrangements of Strasbourg St. Denis by Roy Hargrove and Skaravan (Caravan) by Duke Ellington and Juan Tizol feature in this podcast.

Hear what prompted Thorpe to come to Asia and set up his company attracting writers and creative folk from all over the globe.
DECEMBER PODCASTS: Music Dish founder, Eric De Fontenay. Music Dish is based in Beijing providing an advocate for bands in China Eric was tempted by the "the belly of the beast." He previously toured high profile foreign bands throughout Asia and was also the tour manager for Second Hand Rose.
NOVEMBER PODCASTS 2022: Jane Nicola reflects upon her unique life carved out as a British songwriter in Asia. Having lived in the countries of China, Singapore and Hong Kong, Jane Nicola shares a lively tale of sojourning, love and loss, interjected with songs from her different albums.
Yanyue feature below, a Metal Fusion band in China featuring Dominic Garcia, lead guitarist and Johnathan Zhang, a master erhu player share several tracks from their new album due out this year. In this pod, they share how the band started in Changzhou, as well as how they have combined traditional Chinese influences with heavy metal. Both of them talk about the strength of their friendship as a catalyst for the music.
SEPTEMBER PODCASTS 2022: The prolific works of UK producer Graeme Holdaway features as a tribute in a three part podcast series; Guest speakers include Sonja Kristina, the Singer of Acid Folk and Curved Air Band. Also Alex Holdaway who was Graeme's wife and the mother of Finlay Holdaway and Marijke Bergkamp, Co-creater of the Beat Factory. They reflect upon Graeme's work with Nation Records, Transglobal Underground, Salad, Atom Bomb Yoga, Damon Albarn (Seymour/Blur), City Hall and The Houses of Parliament.
Podcast 2 features Marijke Bergkamp (co-owner of Beat Factory) and Alex Holdaway (Wife of Graeme) who delve deeper into the work of Graeme Holdaway, their enduring friendship throughout the years.
Podcast 3 features Sonja Kristina, (Curved Air, Acid Folk) was previously married to Steve Copeland, the drummer of the Police and it was in her UK home whilst living with Copeland, that she was introduced to Graeme Holdaway. He captured the earlier Acid Folk recordings at The Beat Factory Studio in London and subsequently toured with Sonja as a bass player.
JULY/AUGUST PODCAST 2022: John Carroll, an Indie Singer-songwriter from Limerick in Ireland, currently living in Hangzhou. John was one of the very first Irish songwriters to successfully tour around China. He magnetises audiences just like that of a Seanchai, his life in China is interspersed with tracks from his different albums.
JUNE PODCAST 2022: Blues Walker from the US currently lives in Sweden. He has toured all over the globe including Shanghai and the Ukraine. In this pod, he shares the most tragic but powerful tale behind his song, Can't take no Train. Also featured are tracks Neon Butterfly and Don't Mind Getting Old.
